Below you will find some of our most frequently asked questions!
How much do tattoos cost?
Tattoo pricing depends on several factors, including the size, placement, level of detail, and whether it's done in color or black and grey. Larger pieces that require multiple sessions are typically charged at an hourly rate—feel free to email us for more details about that.
If you have a specific budget in mind, let your artist know during the consultation. They’ll do their best to work with you—this might mean starting with an outline and completing the piece over multiple sessions.
Please note: our shop minimum is $100, and we are a cash-only studio.
Does Trustworthy Tattoo have a minimum tattoo price?
Our shop minimum is $100, Most small simple tattoos fall into this category, small tattoos with minimal color or shading, single names etc. as locations become more difficult (ie: neck, ribs, feet) the price for smaller tattoos can increase. We are always happy to give a no pressure price estimation.
Do I need to bring an ID to be tattooed?
Yes, the State of Ohio requires a valid photo ID to be presented each time an individual receives service. Per this requirement, we will only be able to accept the following unexpired, government issued forms of ID: State Identification Card, Drivers License, Passport Card, Passport, and Military ID. We DO NOT accept ANY digital form of identification.
Do you tattoo minors?
We currently only tattoo persons over 18 years of age. This is not state law but our studio policy. Proper State ID/ Drivers ID is required at time of appointment.
What form of payment do you accept?
We are currently cash only for in-person transactions and deposits. If you are emailing about an appointment, you may request to make a PayPal deposit (fees may apply) or a Venmo Deposit (fees may apply). There are multiple ATM's within walking distance of the shop.
Can I use numbing cream before my appointment?
We understand that some clients may be interested in using numbing cream to ease discomfort, but we ask that you speak with your artist beforehand. Using numbing products without prior approval is not allowed especially those containing - Lidocaine. If you arrive with numbing cream applied and haven’t cleared it with your artist, your appointment may be canceled and your booking fee forfeited.
Some topical anesthetics can affect the skin's texture or raise health concerns—especially if not used as directed. In addition, many artists prefer to avoid them, as certain products can impact how well the pigment holds in the skin. If you're considering numbing options, feel free to discuss it with your artist ahead of time so you can make the best decision together.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we do accept walk-ins when our schedule allows! However, if you’re looking for a specific time or date, we recommend making an appointment to ensure availability.
Appointments can be made in person at the shop or by contacting your preferred artist directly. We’ll always do our best to work with your schedule.
Can I cancel or change my appointment?
If you think you have to miss your appointment please give your artist as much notice as possible so they can fill that time with another appointment. We would prefer a weeks notice, but 2 days would be the minimum. In the case of an emergency just let us know as soon as you can. No call no shows will sacrifice their original deposit and will need to reschedule with a new deposit. In some cases you may be unable to get tattooed by an artist after a no call no show occurs. Please ask your artist directly about their cancellation policy.
What should I do to prepare for a tattoo session?
To help ensure the best possible tattoo experience, we recommend the following:
Eat a full meal before your appointment. Keeping your energy and blood sugar up makes it easier to sit through your session—especially longer ones—and helps with recovery afterward.
Stay hydrated in the days leading up to your tattoo. Well-hydrated skin takes ink better and can heal more efficiently.
Avoid sunburn or sun damage on the area to be tattooed. We can’t tattoo over compromised skin, and sun exposure can significantly affect the healing process.
Be in good overall health. If you're currently dealing with an illness, infection, or medical complications, it's best to wait until you're feeling better before getting tattooed.
For longer sessions, feel free to bring snacks and water to stay comfortable. There are also plenty of food options nearby if you need to grab something before or after your appointment.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being tattooed. While we take care to protect your clothing, there’s always a chance of ink or blood transfer, especially depending on the placement.
To help pass the time, we offer TVs and Bluetooth headphones for client use. You're also welcome to bring your own headphones and enjoy your own music, podcast, or show during the session.
Can I bring friend(s) with me?
You’re welcome to bring one guest with you for support. However, we kindly ask that you don’t bring multiple friends or family members to sit with you during your appointment.
Our shop has limited space, and extra people can make it more difficult for artists to move around and work comfortably. Any additional guests will be asked to wait in the front area.
We understand that not everyone feels comfortable coming alone, and we do our best to make sure the environment feels welcoming and safe. Our studio has an open floor plan, so you’ll never feel too isolated.
Do tattoos hurt?
The feeling of tattoos depend on many things, placement, duration, personal pain tolerance, but most locations are very tolerable. Areas such as arms are a great place to start your tattoo journey.
Are tattoos safe?
We can’t speak for every tattoo studio, but here at Trustworthy Tattoo, your health and safety is our highest priority. In addition to providing new needles for every client, we also adhere to strict procedures to avoid cross-contamination. You can expect to see disposable ink holders, disposable razors, and barriers on everything that must be touched during the tattoo process. We work closely with the Lorain County Department of Health to ensure that our methods comply with the most current guidelines.
How do I take care of my tattoo?
You will be given a printed aftercare flier upon completion of your tattoo, and we will go over the process verbally. If you would like to look over aftercare beforehand you can find it Here. Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
Can I bring my own art to have it tattooed on me?
We certainly will work with you to adapt your artwork to work on skin, some changes may need to be made to make sure that it translates to a tattoo. Your skin ages, experiences sun damage depending on location, we take all of this into account while designing a tattoo that will last a lifetime.
Do you offer piercings?
